LCL Filters

Description

LCL filters have been specially designed to eliminate the harmonics from the current absorbed by 6-pulse power converters, such as frequency variators for motors, UPS units, etc. These filters are essentially passive devices based on a series-parallel combination of inductances and capacitors, adapted to filter the input of power converters.

Applications

  • Reduction of the current wave's distortion towards the network and the rest of the installation.
  • Compliance with standards:

    • IEEE-519
  • Energy savings through the reduction of the root mean square current (RMS), thereby lowering kVA demand.
  • Increase in the working life of upstream units with a corresponding reduction of thermal losses.
  • Limitation of current transients to prevent damages to the converter and avoid overvoltage trips that disrupt production processes.
