RS2RS Converter

Description

The RS2RS converter enables the connection of RS-232 communication units to an RS-485 network. It also functions as a repeater or amplifier for RS-485 networks. Designed for industrial environments, the RS2RS features galvanic insulation for robust performance.

The converter automatically adapts to all half-duplex communication protocols without requiring software modifications. It operates as a communication transducer between RS-232 and RS-485 data buses or as an octocoupled RS-485/RS-485 amplifier. Its auto-switching capability between transmission (Tx) and reception (Rx) ensures seamless operation without software control.

As an amplifier, the RS2RS extends the RS-485 bus length beyond its typical 1,200-metre limit, making it suitable for installations with interference or long cabling distances.
